Google Penguin Update Petition

Whereas, thousands upon thousands of webmasters are currently in compliance with Google Webmaster Guidelines after extensive unnatural link clean-up efforts, and having waited in excess of 8 months for a Penguin algorithm update with no word from Google if/when one is coming;

Whereas many of these same webmasters at no fault of their own beyond unknowingly hiring an unethical SEO company (or having fallen victim to a malicious negative SEO attack by a competitor) have felt the full brunt of the effects of a Penguin-related demotion in the Google search results;

Whereas, untold numbers of webmasters have done their due diligence as directed by Google representatives, such as the Head of Webspam (Matthew Cutts), to expend extensively their resources of time and money in tracking down inorganic links, to perform laborious outreach campaigns to ask for link removal, and to use the Google Disavow Tool when those efforts fell short, all in full faith that Google’s word is their bond, that there is hope for redemption, and that there is a way forward for a website to rank favorably again after such remedial actions have been implemented;

Whereas, having allowed an inordinate amount of time to pass between Penguin algorithm updates, Google has let down their users and missed the opportunity to show them the most relevant results, inasmuch as many of those results could include websites that are currently filtered by the Penguin algorithm and in actuality may be more relevant than currently displayed results for a given query, but owing to the fact of a previous unnatural link profile these websites have lost all visibility to searchers and hindered a good user experience;

Whereas, there is an exceedingly great number of webmasters whose livelihoods depend upon Google for referral traffic, which traffic has been significantly reduced, in many cases causing the real-world effects of loss of income, layoffs, foreclosures, marital stress, and mental illness, among other consequences, when each of these things could have been ameliorated with a more timely and regular updating of the Penguin algorithm, allowing for hope of the possible recovery of such affected websites and webmasters and those who rely upon them for gainful employment;

Be it now therefore resolved that we, the undersigned, supplicate Google to act in fairness towards both us as webmasters and those users it claims to serve their highest interests to return the most relevant results, by expediting the roll-out of the next iteration of the Penguin algorithm. Without regular updates, we believe Google to be in dereliction of its duties to all interested parties.
